THE SEAT WITH NO NAME
Every leadership table has one chair nobody sits in.
It is not a vacancy. It is the seat between the functions - no headcount, no budget line, no box in the org chart. Everyone around it is doing their job, and the work still stops exactly there.
Eight owners. Nobody is missing.
Hover a seat and you hear the sentence that owner actually says in the room. Every one of them is right. That is the point.
Why that seat stays empty.
You cannot promote into it.
Whoever you move into the seat brings a function with them. The seat only works if you belong to none of them. Six weeks later they are defending their old line again, because that is where their targets still sit.
You cannot hire into it.
It has no permanent workload. The moment you make it permanent it becomes another function, with its own line to defend, and the gap simply moves one seat further along the table.
A firm cannot fill it.
A firm fills a seat with a team. A team is not an in-between - it is a second table, with its own handovers, in the same room as the first.
WHAT I DO
That seat is my job.
I sit in it for a defined period. I belong to none of the functions around the table, which is the only reason the seat works at all. I name the execution break, put a governed fix on it, and leave one credible next move behind. Then the seat is empty again - on purpose.
